Worcester City Council has been awarded funding from the Midlands Net Zero Hub to shape the future of place-based industrial decarbonisation across the city. Place-based decarbonisation looks to accelerate the uptake of net-zero technologies across Worcester City's industrial areas by supporting businesses to work together in collaborative and innovative ways.
The project will identify practical ways that companies can reduce energy consumption and emissions by identifying the most appropriate collaborative decarbonisation solutions, such as the sharing of waste heat or the use of shared solar and wind energy generation.
Participating companies will learn innovative ways of reducing their demand on the national grid by creating locally produced power, participate in ways to purchase power collaboratively, or be connected to locally operated heat networks.
Each participating company will also receive a free energy assessment and decarbonisation review of their business and could potentially apply for Government grant funding of up to £100,000 through the Business Energy Advice Service. This could support the implementation of identified energy and cost reduction projects and help start collaborative decarbonisation journeys.
This Worcester Industrial Decarbonisation study is being delivered by Pro Enviro on behalf of Worcester City Council. Pro Enviro will provide participating companies with customised support, expert guidance, and essential tools to simultaneously reduce energy consumption and emissions, boost productivity, and pave the way towards a more decarbonised and competitive future for the city.
We are inviting energy-intensive companies in Worcester to submit an expression of interest using the form below to join this groundbreaking project and shape the future of industrial decarbonisation in Worcester.
